Review for #MaddamSir
This review might seem wordy, but its a genuine attempt at an amazing television show. Bring it on!
A good show is the one which keeps you hooked to itself. A good show is perhaps not the one which you just watch for your time pass, but it just forces you to watch itself by its beauty. By far, there are 2 types of 'good shows', ones you watch when you are coming from a tiring day and want some kind of relaxation. And the other one when you are free on a Sunday and want some action!
Maddam Sir is the best show on Indian television, because it fills both criteria! The name might sound like a boss-employee show, but in reality, it is indeed a serious show, along with light-hearted comedy. It is extremely entertaining. If it can make you laugh, it can impress you with its storyline. In the age where TV stories are stretched for months, Maddam Sir is quite a unique show since stories are not stretched for more than 4 episodes. You may call it a thriller, you may call it a drama, you may call it comedy, romance, and even mystery now! Its like an All rounder show, because the show has everything. It is not a police-comedy but an actual police show. Some of the cases might seem relatable. It does not have standard criminal cases but comes up with something unique every week. If this is not enough, it is a perfect blend of values like teamwork, women empowerment. What else do you want? You want a love story too? You have it. Its not a typical mother-in-law vs daughter-in-law drama (one troubled lady who is always victim of conspiracies plotted against her and can't speak anything because she's uneducated) as normally aired on Indian television. Instead, there is such a duo in the show as well; if they can fight or taunt themselves, they can also love each other and go to any height to protect each other. It is a progressive show made for this decade. Its the universal show that has a mature audience, but it will be accepted by Generation Z, Millenials, Generation X, and everyone.
At the end, the show teaches you to not deal with things using violence, but by emotions "finish the crime not the criminal". It goes in perfectly with the tagline, "Kuch Baat Hai, Kyunki Jazbaat Hai!"
This was just about the storyline of the show.
As we progress onto the review, let us move into the summary of the story and acting of #MaddamSir cast.
Often it happens that channel's creative team or the production house planned a great concept, but badly failed to execute it. This is certainly not the case with Maddam Sir.
Moving on to the actors, the actors taken for the show are special. Each and every actor in the show has given more than their best for the show and are FANTASTIC. Cameo characters keep changing with story, so it can never sound monotonous (due to its pattern and format).
The end motive of the show is to choose emotions over violence, called the 'Jazbaat' theory of the protagonist. It says, finish the crime and not the criminal!
We have Women's Police Station located in Janpath nagar of Lucknow. It is almost dying because nobody believes in a women police station resulting in zero FIRs. This is also due to poor management of the senior inspector Karishma Singh. She is extremely violent and only believes in beating the hell out of everything. Her theory is that if you finish the criminal, crime will vanish itself. (It always gets proven wrong). The actress for this role is Yuktii Kapoor, she has given the character a beautiful shape. She has deeply gone inside the character quite smoothly. Her character is like, a soft heart from inside but rough from outside. Good for the good and bad for the bad. She is appreciable for creating an irreplaceable image of her character in the viewers' mind.
Department is having high costs maintaning this thana. In the last attempt, they appoint Haseena Mallik as the S.H.O. She came, and within a swing completely changed the feel of the police station.
Story move forward, her station is the best in Lucknow, has won various awards and competitions and is recognised as the best.
What is the reason behind this transition? Maddam Sir (Haseena Mallik) solved each and every class perfectly. Her character is being played by Gulki Joshi. She has the Jazbaat ideology often contrasted with the one of Karishma (though K. S. too is good in her own ways!).
There's something important in a show. Actors got a look test done and a written script. Fine. But then, it depends on the actor how they convey the message and the flavour of their characters to the audience. This is where Gulki excels! She proved that what you see is what you get, and no one can be better than her. (Seems like the production house did a lot of testing! )
Each and every detail, each and every dialogue the way she has given is that even if someone is not interested in this genre, will love the show. She has done exactly what the character needs, a good leader, a great team member.
Again story move forward, Haseena and Karishma are at constant odds with each others. Anubhav Singh (Negotiation specialist) is appointed D. S. P. and called to solve in differences. He speaks perfectly. This was not a joke. Yeah he does speak perfectly, because that is what his role demands! His character (you know, former negotiation specialist) is like he will speak gems out and then the other person will be convinced in just a flick. Rahil Azam plays this role and did it excellently! He got a new essence to the show.
We also have some more excitement. Other members of the lead cast are amazing as well (since its not a typical hero-heroine show, more focus is on the 4 'heroines' as our country loves to call). Bhavika Sharma plays the role of IT Expert Santoshi Sharma who loves to call herself Santosh and is lovingly called Santu. Head Constable Pushpa Singh is the mother-in-law of Karishma Singh. She is quite loving. The role is performed by senior actress Sonali Naik and her acting is entertaining. Priyanshu Singh plays a decent role in the show as Women psychologist Cheetah Chaturvedi. Gaurav Wadhwa played the role of reporter Sunny Chaddah and after the Lockdown he was replaced by Jatin Arora.
Direction is great. The dialogues are special, including "Hamara tajurba kahta hai". One really watches the show for its dialogues.
Karishma and Haseena's duo is beautifully crafted and liked by many, because personally they are good friends but different professionally. Other duos are Haseena-Anubhav, Cheetah-Santosh etc are also popular among social media. Just look up #MaddamSir on Twitter and boom! You will have so many fan tweets!
That was all, moving onto the conclusion,
Maddam Sir– Kuch Baat Hai, Kyunki Jazbaat Hai is a television as well as web (OTT) series ehich showcases the journey of the team while solving cases or going on missions, for their nation. TellyWit finds the show perfectly balanced.
